1.Cindy really wanted to attend the party, but she knew her parents would not approve. Sara, the host of the party, said her parents would be out of town on the night of the party. Knowing her parents were not thrilled about her going to parties, and she knew that they had made it clear she should not attend parties if parents were not home. Despite feeling that she should not go because of her parents rules, she was tempted to try to figure out a way to go. All of her friends were going to be there; she did not want to miss out. Ugh…what to do. What type of conflict is this?
2.Both Sean and Tyler wanted to be the starting quarterback, but only one person would be selected. Both boys worked out everyday and worked with the starting offense. Drill for drill, play for play, pass for pass, they battled each other for the starting job. What type of conflict is this?
3. Boulder’s Construction Firm needed to finish the construction of their latest housing project; however, the weather was not cooperating. Fierce winds and torrential downpours had caused major damage, thus causing a delay. Furthermore, the saturated ground made it impossible to lay the foundation for the last home. Meeting the deadline seemed impossible. What type of conflict is this?

5th Period-Take lyrics of "She Can Play" and make connections directly or indirectly to the goddesses and discussion about what we thought. Discussed Venn Diagram that was homework, comparing and contrasting Aphrodite and Athena.
Task 1: Compare Women then and now
5th Period - Read Psyche and Venus (Venus is also known as Aphrodite.) Task 2: Watched "She Can Play" (Video Below) Read lyrics and follow along with the song.
Homework: What message was the song writer trying to give? What is the song trying to say about women? Why include the allusions (references to) Athena and Aphrodite? (Write on back of lyrics page that was handed out. Type 1.)
Extension Activity: How many magazines have covers that are really about physical beauty versus how many covers are about intelligence,strength, and achievement. What does this tell us about our society? What evidence exists that shows that,as a society, we are moving away from an emphasis on physical beauty?
